SINGAPORE: A 28-year-old man who died of myocarditis or inflammation of the heart three weeks after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine was otherwise healthy and had worked the day after the jab. State Coroner Adam Nakhoda had ruled Bangladeshi national Rajib's death a medical misadventure on Feb 15, saying it was likely related to the COVID-19 jab he had received. Books December 12, 2022 Issue In Praise of Parasites? We think of them with revulsion, but a new book wants us to appreciate their redeeming qualities. By Jerome Groopman December 5, 2022 The word "parasite" has always carried moral opprobrium; before it became a biological term, it was used of human freeloaders. Illustration by Bjørn Rune Lie A vacation in the Catskills, one of those beautiful summer days which seem to go on forever, with family friends down at a local pond. I must have been six. I waded around happily, in and out of the tall grasses that grew in the murky water, but when I emerged onto the shore my legs were studded with small black creatures. "Leeches!
